Interesting Facts about Divorced People Who Remarry Each Other

Divorce rates in the United States are high. Experts estimate that between 40% and 45% of all marriages will end in divorce. However, there is a small percentage of divorced couples who will end up remarrying each other. It’s not just something movie stars do. Along with Marie Osmond and Elizabeth Taylor, couples all over the world have been re-united in a second marriage.

It is estimated that only 10% of divorced couples will go on to remarry each other. Statistics show that second marriages have a higher divorce rate than first marriages. However, divorced couples who remarry each other have an estimated 70% success rate.

This is mainly due to the time they spent apart. Most couples who remarry each other first separated due to situational circumstances. Perhaps one of them was a workaholic or they had money problems. These are things that can be changed or resolved over time. Once these couples are divorced, they find that time heals many of their wounds. Their mental clarity returns and they begin to feel those same feelings they had in the beginning of their relationships.

While the success rate is higher for those who remarry each other, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Many couples will have to work hard in order to overcome past behaviors. However, they most likely have a renewed desire to make their marriage work.
